City of Rincon – Declaration of State of Emergency

Date: February 1, 2026
Location: Rincon, Georgia
Due to the ongoing severe weather conditions, including extremely cold temperatures and significant ice accumulation, the City of Rincon is hereby declaring a State of Emergency effective immediately.
This declaration is made in response to hazardous conditions that pose a serious threat to public safety, transportation, infrastructure, and essential services. Ice accumulation has led to dangerous road conditions, power outages, and increased risk to vulnerable populations.
City officials are coordinating with emergency services, utility providers, and state agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents. Citizens are urged to:
• Stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.
• Check on neighbors, especially the elderly and those with special needs.
• Report power outages and downed power lines to the appropriate utility companies.
• Follow updates from official city channels for shelter information and emergency resources.
This emergency declaration enables the city to mobilize resources more effectively and request additional support from state and federal agencies as needed.
We appreciate your cooperation and resilience during this challenging time. This declaration of local emergency shall terminate at 11:59 PM on February 2, 2026.
Signed,
Kevin Exley
Mayor
City of Rincon
